Chemistry- Period 4
9/4/25 - 9/5/25
This is the first week of school so we will be doing introductory assignments and reviewing class rules and expectations.
9/8/25 - 9/12/25
This week is when we will start on anatomy content, specifically the mathematical knowledge of chemistry; dimensional analysis, sig figs, and measurement.
9/15/25 - 9/19/25
This week we will be completing an experiment on dimensional analysis. We will then be completing a test review activity in preparation for our 1st test on Thursday of this week.
9/22/25 - 9/26/25
There is no school on Monday this week due to a waiver day. We will be moving onto the next unit on classifying matter and completing practice on chemical compounds.
9/29/25 - 10/3/25
We will be preparing for a test on matter this week and will then be starting the next unit on the atom and its history.
10/6/25 - 10/10/25
We will be finishing the notes and discussion of the atom, it's history, and models of the atom. As well as finishing the discussion of the electromagnetic spectrum, nuclear decay, and valence electrons.
10/13/25 - 10/17/25
This week is a 4 day week due to a PD day for teachers happening on Friday. We will be continuing our study of the atom, its models, and its history. We will also be moving onto the labs for this unit.
10/20/25 - 10/24/25
This week is a 4 day week due to a PD day for teachers happening on Friday. We will be completing our final lab on atomic structure and preparing for the test at the end of the week.
10/27/25 - 10/31/25
This week we will be starting our new unit on periodic trends, bonding, and nomenclature.
11/3/25 - 11/7/25
This week is a 4 day week due to a waiver day happening on Tuesday of this week. We will be practicing forming chemical compounds as well as naming chemical compounds this week and completing a lab on electroplating.
11/10/25 - 11/14/25
This week we will be taking a test on chemical compounds and nomenclature. We will then be moving onto chemical bonding. (UPDATE- Monday was a snow day so there are only 4 days this week)
11/17/25 - 11/21/25
This week we will be practicing working with covalent bonds and the rules that affect them. We will also be practicing with VSEPR and intermolecular forces as well.
11/24/25 - 11/25/25
This is a 2 day week due to the thanksgiving holiday break this week. We will mainly be working on completing the lab assignments and test review cards.
12/1/25 - 12/5/25
This week we will be completing the final lab assignments in the bonding unit, paper chromatography. We will then be completing the test over the bonding unit. UPDATE: A snow day has made this a 4 day week.
12/8/25 - 12/12/25
This week we will be completing the notes on the Mole, a quantity in chemistry used for quantitative data. We will then move onto the practice packet for the unit.
12/15/25 - 12/19/25
This week we will hopefully be finishing the test over muscles and then beginning the unit on the Nervous system. (Due to icy conditions on Friday, this became a 4 day week)
SEMESTER 2
1/5/26 - 1/9/26
This week we will be completing the lab over the Mole. We will then be completing the review for the test over the Mole.
1/12/26 - 1/16/26
This week we will be completing the test over the Mole and molar conversions and will then be completing the introductory assignments of the chemical reactions unit.
1/19/26 - 1/23/26
This week we will be working on the practice assignment over chemical reactions which includes chemical equations and balancing chemical equations.
1/26/26 - 1/30/26
Due to a major snow storm that happened over the weekend, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were cancelled this week. We will therefore turn in the practice assignment for reactions and then start completing the laboratory experiments. The date of this test has been moved on account of the cancellations.
2/2/26 - 2/6/26
We are back to regular schedule this week so we will be completing the laboratory experiment over chemical reactions and then moving onto test review.
2/9/26 - 2/13/26
Monday is a waiver day for teachers and there was no school for students. We will be starting our study of stoichiometry and limiting reactants.
2/16/26 - 2/20/26
Monday was set to be a school day make up but ended up being cancelled. We will be continuing to complete the assignments over the stoichiometry and then preparing for the lab experiments of the unit.
2/23/26 - 2/27/26
This week we will be finishing the practice assignment over stoichiometry. We will then be preparing and then completing the lab over stoichiometry, the Kool-Aid lab.
3/2/26 - 3/6/26
This week we will be finishing the test review on stoichiometry and taking the assessment on the unit on Wednesday. After that, we will then be moving onto the Gas Laws unit.
3/9/26 - 3/13/26
This week is unique because on Monday it was a waiver day for teachers and on Tuesday it was a special day where the ACT was administered and an alternate schedule was in place. The rest of this week will be devoted to going over the notes on gas laws and starting the practice packet.
3/16/26 - 3/20/26
This week we are completing the practice assignment on gas laws and then completing the experiment over the same topic.
3/23/26 - 3/27/26
This is the week before spring break and we are completing the test review over gas laws and taking the test on Thursday of this week.
